I have added a few more layers of concrete and gravel to the background now. I have stuck in some gravel and pebbles to give the effect of a worn river bank. Some of these are held in with silicone, others just in deeper areas of concrete. In the corner section I have broken away some of the bottom section for my filter outlets to run underneath, and I have cut three holes to allow water to pass through to the filter inlets. Sounds convoluted I know. The idea is, the filter inlets and heater will be behind the background, the outlets will run under the background and substrate, and surface at the other side of the tank, hidden among the rocks. That way, no equipment will be visible in the tank. A couple of pictures...

the tankHere I will include detail of what I am doing inside and outside the tank. Originally a 50", 300 litre tank. Bought second hand for £30. But I broke that one. Now a 64" x 18" x 18". |
