Early in January I collected some fallen branches from the local woods (with permission!). This has been steam cleaned, and sat in a bleach solution for a few weeks. Now it is time to dry it out, before soaking it again for a few more weeks.
So, how do you dry out so many large pieces of wood? Stick a steel drum over a home made wood burner flu, and make a wood oven of course!
The flue, and top of the oven get to a few hundred degrees when it has been burning for a while. Should dry the wood out nicely, eventually. Also, I have some rocks and gravel that I collected. Probably need more though! This has also been bleached, and is now ready for boiling. Washing the fine silt from the gravel took a while!
